ABC/Heidi GutmanBillie Joe Armstrong and his band The Longshot are up to something.
In an Instagram post, the Green Day frontman’s side project teases that a “little announcement” is coming sometime this week. It’s also accompanied by a clip of what sounds like a new song.
The Longshot surprise-released their debut album, Love Is for Losers, in April 2018, along with a number of EPs. Along with Armstrong, the group also includes Green Day touring member Jeff Matika, drummer David S. Fields and guitarist Kevin Preston.
In related news, Armstrong and New York City punk rocker Jesse Malin are teaming up for a new song called “Strangers & Thieves.” The track will be released June 14.
As for Green Day, Armstrong said in an Instagram Live session late last year that he was writing new songs for his main gig, but no more news has developed on that front. The band’s most recent album is 2016’s Revolution Radio.
