Stone Temple Pilots announce 25th anniversary “Purple” reissue; listen to acoustic “Big Empty” now

Atlantic/RhinoStone Temple Pilots are reissuing their 1994 sophomore album Purple in honor of its 25th anniversary.

The collection arrives on September 13, and features the original album remastered, as well as a host of unreleased demos, live tracks and acoustic recordings. You can download an acoustic version of “Big Empty” now via digital platforms.

A “super deluxe” version of the reissue includes a 17-song STP live set recorded in New Haven, Connecticut on August 24, 1994.

Purple, which arrived two years after STP’s 1992 hit debut Core, spawned the singles “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline” and “Big Empty,” and has been certified six-times platinum by the RIAA for six million units sold. It officially celebrates its 25th anniversary this Friday, June 7.

This fall, Stone Temple Pilots will launch a co-headlining U.S. tour with Rival Sons. They’ll be supporting their new self-titled album, their first with new lead singer Jeff Gutt.
