Mark Hoppus says new Blink-182 album doesn’t have any “joke songs”; teases new Simple Creatures track

ABC/Paula LoboDon’t expect another “Built This Pool” on Blink-182‘s next album.

In response to a fan on Twitter asking whether there would be any “joke songs” on the new record — such as the 16-second “Built This Pool” or the 30-second “Brohemian Rhapsody” — bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus replied, “No not at this point.”

Blink has previously teased that the new album, the follow-up to 2016’s California, would be darker and more experimental. The trio released the first single from the record, “Blame It on My Youth,” in May.

In related news, Hoppus’ side project Simple Creatures, which also features All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth, will release a new song called “Special” this Thursday, June 13. The track follows the duo’s debut EP Strange Love, which dropped in March.
