The band’s 2001 autobiography, which inspired this year’s Netflix biopic of the same name, will be released as an audiobook for the first time next Tuesday, June 25.

While the members of Motley Crue were very much involved in the Dirt book and film, they were not nearly as pleased with a recent episode of Breaking the Band, a show that airs on ReelzChannel.

The series — which tells the stories of band break-ups by “recreating the key moment the cameras missed,” along with interview and off-stage footage — aired an episode on the Crue over the weekend, which raised the ire of bassist Nikki Sixx.

“Breaking the band was not authorized by Motley Crue,” Sixx tweeted. “Our lawyers sent them a cease-and-desist and further action will be taken. @ReelzChannel is the bottom of the barrel.”

“Should @ReelzChannel be liable for putting out shows without so many artist[s’] approval?” he added. “I am very disappointed that they think they can tell our LIFE story just to sell advertising (mostly incorrect) and without [anybody’s permission].”
