Watch Tom Morello throw fan’s phone after onstage selfie attempt

ABC/Randy HolmesTom Morello has no time for onstage selfies, as one fan learned the hard way.

During a recent solo show in Chicago, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist invited the crowd to join him on stage. However, one fan decided to take one extra step, and held up his phone for a selfie attempt with the musician. In response, Morello took the phone out of the fan’s hand and threw it into the crowd.

“Put a phone in my face onstage and I’ll throw it,” Morello tweeted alongside video of the incident. He also added the hashtag #LiveintheMoment.

Morello later clarified that he specifically told fans he’d throw their phones if they attempted an onstage selfie.

“When you invite guests to YOUR stage and CLEARLY TELL THEM ‘if you stick a cell phone in my face I WILL THROW IT’ and then their uncontrollable entitled selfie urges overcome their sense of reason they get their f***in phones thrown,” he said. “Simple.”

As for offstage selfies, though, Morello said he’s for that “all day.”

Oh, and don’t worry. The fan got his phone back.
