Facebook restoring deleted posts featuring Led Zeppelin’s “Houses of the Holy” cover

Atlantic/Swan SongFacebook is restoring posts that feature the cover artwork of Led Zeppelin‘s 1973 album Houses of the Holy, which had reportedly been removed for violating the social networking site’s standards policy.

The news comes after several recent reports of Facebook banning the cover, which features naked children climbing up a pile of stones. There’s also a Change.org petition that reads, “Stop Facebook from censoring Led Zeppelin’s iconic Houses of the Holy album cover art.”

In a statement to ABC Radio, a Facebook spokesperson says, “As our Community Standards explain, we don’t allow nude images of children on Facebook, but we know this a culturally significant image. Therefore, we’re restoring the posts we removed.”

Facebook adds that it’s now adjusting its review process to allow the album cover to be shared in the future.
