The eighth studio effort from the Massachusetts metallers — and the first since 2016’s Incarnate — is titled Atonement, and will arrive August 16. You can download the first single, “Unleashed,” now via digital outlets.

“‘Unleashed’ is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface,” says frontman Jesse Leach. “We all have that wild within that often stays dormant until a tragic event triggers and awakens it. This song is about that awakening within.”

“I feel we were able to capture something raw and intense on this song and I’m stoked for everyone to hear it!” he adds. “The new album Atonement is a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence.”

Atonement also includes guest spots from former KsE singer Howard Jones and Testament vocalist Chuck Billy, who are featured on the tracks “The Signal Fire” and “The Crownless King,” respectively.

Ahead of Atonement‘s arrival, Killswitch will launch a U.S. tour with Clutch, beginning July 12 in Syracuse, New York.
