Korn’s Jonathan Davis: New album “The Nothing” is “very dark”

Roadrunner Records/Elektra Korn frontman Jonathan Davis is sharing more info about his band’s just-announced new album The Nothing. Speaking to Kerrang!, Davis says the upcoming record is “very dark.”

“It’s basically all the stuff that happened to me last year,” Davis explains. The musician’s wife, Deven, died unexpectedly last August.

“It’s very emotional for me, but it is what it is,” he adds of the material.

Recording the album for him, Davis says, was a solitary experience.

“Producers came in, people tried to get me to do things one way or the other way, everybody was overthinking lots of things, but I finally just said I was fed up with it, kicked everyone out and said it’ll be done when it’s done,” he says. “I locked myself in my studio and spent a lot of time reflecting and healing and making my art. A couple of months later I came out and it’s done and I just can’t wait for you to hear it.”

The Nothing, the follow-up to 2016’s The Serenity of Suffering, is due out September 13. Lead single “You’ll Never Find Me” is out now.
