Eddie Vedder honored the late Chris Cornell with a cover of the late grunge icon’s solo song “Seasons,” and you can watch fan-shot video of it now. The Pearl Jam frontman performed the song during his solo show in Düsseldorf, Germany on Sunday.
“Seasons” was Cornell’s first solo song, and was recorded for the soundtrack to the 1992 film Singles, which also featured tracks by Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins and Mudhoney. Both Cornell and Vedder make cameos in the movie.
Vedder performed the “Seasons” cover on a sad anniversary in Pearl Jam’s history: On June 30, 2000, nine people died in crush in the crowd during the band’s show at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
The cover was also a tribute to Cornell’s first child, daughter Lily, who was born June 28, 2000.
