Ghost digs deep into the human mind — literally — with “Faith” lyric video

Credit: Mikael ErikssonAt this point, it’s pretty safe to assume what you’ll get with a “lyric video.” Usually, it features the song’s lyrics in some funky fonts, possibly accompanied by some animation. Well, throw out all those preconceived notions before you watch Ghost‘s “Faith” lyric video.

The distressing clip features the words of “Faith” flashing over footage of someone performing brain surgery. And not modern brain surgery — we’re talking creepy, old-timey brain surgery performed with creepy, old-timey instruments.

If that’s something you’d like to watch, the “Faith” lyric video is streaming now on YouTube.

“Faith” — which is an original song, not a George Michael cover — appears on Ghost’s latest album, Prequelle. It currently sits in the top 10 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

The previous two Prequelle singles, “Rats” and “Dance Macabre,” both reached the number-one spot on the ranking.

Ghost will launch a U.S. tour in continued support of Prequelle in September. The band is currently touring Europe while opening for Metallica.
