Jack White likes Twenty One Pilots, Greta Van Fleet & “Old Town Road”

ABC/Nicole WilderJack White has revealed he’s a fan of Twenty One Pilots and Greta Van Fleet.

Speaking about the Columbus, Ohio duo, White tells Rolling Stone that he “love[s] what they’re doing.”

“First time I saw [Twenty One Pilots] was on Saturday Night Live,” White explains. “And I thought ‘Oh, that’s really great. Another really cool two-piece band that can do something really powerful.’ I liked what they were doing, playing piano and bass, that guy, the lead singer [Tyler Joseph]. And it was strong.”

As for Greta Van Fleet, White says, “It’s exciting to see young people play rock & roll, no doubt about it.”

“That guy has a very cool voice,” he syas, referring to frontman Josh Kiszka, whose vocals have been compared to Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant. “The more he makes it his own, the better.”

“People used to say, when I first came out, ‘He sounds like Robert Plant,'” White adds. “If you keep pushing forward, that s*** goes away.”

Meanwhile, White also reveals his love for rapper Lil Nas X‘s chart-dominating hit “Old Town Road,” calling it “beautiful.”

“The song is only a minute and 47 seconds long or something,” White says. “That’s how long [The White Stripes‘] ‘Fell in Love With a Girl’ was. People said, ‘They’re not going to play that on radio.’ But it worked, and it’s great that it’s happening again.”

Elsewhere in the interview, White says that he and former adversaries The Black Keys have buried the hatchet, and also talks about his friendship with Bob Dylan.

When asked if he’s ever written a song with Dylan, White replies, “I cannot tell you that. I wish I could tell you, but I cannot.”
