Credit: Travis Shinn Killswitch Engage has released a new song called “I Am Broken Too.” The track will appear on the Massachusetts metallers’ upcoming album Atonement.
Speaking to Alternative Press, frontman Jesse Leach says “I Am Broken Too” is about “someone that I love dearly who had a breakdown, and it was somebody who was living a ‘normal life.'”
“On paper, you would look at this person and think he’s got it made; he’s doing great,” Leach continues. “That person would conceal those issues and drink it all away or numb it in some sort of way. When it finally came to a head, I felt inspired to write this song because I wanted them to know that they aren’t alone.”
“I Am Broken Too” is available now for digital download. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Chicago-based suicide prevention organization Hope for the Day.
Atonement, which also features the previously released single “Unleashed,” arrives August 16. It’s the follow-up to 2016’s Incarnate.
Killswitch is currently on tour with Clutch. The run continues Tuesday in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
