“The Umbrella Academy” notches two Emmy nominations

Christos Kalohoridis/NetflixThe Umbrella Academy is among the nominees for the 71st Emmy Awards, which were announced Tuesday.

The Netflix show, a live-action adaptation of the comic books series of the same name created by My Chemical Romance‘s Gerard Way, earned recognition in two categories. The premiere episode, “We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals,” is up for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More), while the season finale “The White Violin” will compete in the Outstanding Special Visual Effects category.

The Umbrella Academy — which stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper and Emmy Raver-Lampman, among others — premiered on Netflix in February. It’s since been renewed for a second season.
