Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine cancels scheduled Comic-Con appearance

Credit: Jeremy SafferMegadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has canceled his scheduled appearance at Comic-Con this weekend due to his ongoing battle with throat cancer.

Mustaine was planning to attend San Diego’s annual geek culture convention to sign copies of Megadeth’s new Death By Design graphic novel, published by Heavy Metal magazine.

“By doctor’s orders, we need to cancel Dave Mustaine’s appearance at Heavy Metal‘s booth,” reads a statement on Megadeth’s website. “Let’s all send good wishes to Dave during his treatment and for a speedy recovery!”

To make it up to anyone hoping to meet the metal icon, Comic-Con attendees will have the chance to pick up a special print signed by Mustaine, as well as the other three Megadeth members.

Mustaine revealed his throat cancer diagnosis in June. He’s currently undergoing a treatment plan that his doctors feel has a “90 percent success rate.”
