Led Zeppelin bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones will introduce a new side project called Sons of Chipotle, a duo with lauded Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen, at the famous Tokyo venue The Pit Inn on September 3 and September 5.

Two concerts are scheduled on both dates, featuring Jones playing piano and electronics and Karttunen playing cello and electronics. Two guest musicians will also join Sons of Chipotle at all of the gigs — former Sonic Youth guitarist/bassist Jim O’Rourke and Japanese composer and multi-instrumentalist Otomo Yoshihide.

“When [Jones and Karttunen] improvise, borders disappear, they are free to migrate beyond prejudices, across continents,” Jones writes on his official website.  “In a world where walls are being built and people are told where they cannot go, Sons of Chipotle want music to be a place of openness.”

Tickets for the concerts go on sale this Sunday at 10 a.m. Japan time at t.pia.jp.

Jones and Karttunen previously performed together in a trio called Tres Coyotes that also featured Finnish pianist Magnus Lindberg at shows in Helsinki, Finland, and Turin, Italy, this past April and May, respectively.
