Pantera’s Rex Brown selling guitars, basses, amps & more from personal collection

Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesPantera bassist Rex Brown is parting ways with a bunch of instruments and gear from his personal collection.

Through the online gear marketplace Reverb.com, Brown will be selling a number of basses, guitars, amps and pedals that he’s used throughout his career. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the youth music education charities UpBeat Music and Arts and Young Musicians Unite.

“I’ve picked up so much great gear over the years — I just don’t have enough f***ing room for it all,” says Brown. “There’s a lot of history here and a lot of really great guitars. I hate getting rid of this stuff, but I’d rather get these into the hands of the fans or players who can put them to use, rather than have them sitting in a warehouse.”

Among the items up for sale are a Fender 5-String Jazz Bass — which Brown used on the country metal album Rebel Meets Rebel featuring Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul — and a Spector Designs four-string he played while in Down.

The sale launches next Tuesday, July 30.
