Cinderella’s Tom Keifer: Lzzy Hale’s voice is “powerful” and “intimidating”

Credits: Tammy Vega; Jimmy FontaineIn August 1997, an teenage Lzzy Hale and younger brother Arejay Hale played a local talent show, which officially marked the live debut of Halestorm. Twenty-two years later, the band is a Grammy-winning act with four albums out. That list of accomplishments also includes a collaboration with one of Lzzy’s musical icons: Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer.

In 2017, Lzzy and Keifer recorded an updated version of the Cinderella song “Nobody’s Fool,” which was included on the deluxe version of Keifer’s The Way Life Goes solo album. Speaking to ABC Radio, Keifer recalls the “great” time he had working with Hale.

“She’s such a powerful, amazing singer that it makes you want to step up,” Keifer laughs. “That’s all I’ll say. It’s a little bit intimidating, because that voice is powerful.”

“It’s cool, because she’s just had so many kind words for me over the years and cites me as an inspiration,” he continues. “And she in turn has become an inspiration to me.”

In fact, Keifer has become not only just a fan of Lzzy, but of Halestorm as a whole.

“The whole band, really…are very impressive and very inspiring,” he says. “We love all their records.”

Halestorm’s most recent album is 2018’s Vicious. Meanwhile, Keifer will release a new solo album, Rise, on September 13.
