Credit: LeAnn MuellerTom DeLonge‘s work in the fields of both music and UFO research is well-documented, but here’s a subject he hasn’t focused on: What would happen if he played an alien some of his music?
In an interview with NME, DeLonge was asked, given the chance, if he would play an extra-terrestrial life form his music from Blink-182, or Angels & Airwaves.
“I would have to play Angels & Airwaves because they would recognize the space-prog sound,” DeLonge answered. “If I played Blink, they wouldn’t get the jokes. They would probably get really offended and start an interplanetary war.”
In the same interview, DeLonge shared his appreciation for his former Blink band mates, who dedicated a performance of the Enema of the State track “Aliens Exist” to him during a recent live show.
“It was awesome that they did that,” DeLonge said. “I talk to the guys and we’re all good friends still. We’re like brothers. It’s cool, them doing that.”
DeLonge and Angels & Airwaves released a new song called “Rebel Girl” in April, and they’ll launch their first tour in seven years in September.
Blink, meanwhile, is currently on tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of Enema of the State. They’ll release a new album called Nine, their second with Matt Skiba in place of DeLonge, on September 20.
