Tool’s Maynard James Keenan received death threats over wait for new album

ABC/Randy HolmesTool fans are known for being a passionate bunch, but apparently a few took things way too far as the wait for the band’s new album, the follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days, continued. According to drummer Danny Carey, frontman Maynard James Keenan received death threats over the album’s delay.

“I felt bad for [Keenan],” Carey tells Metal Hammer. “He even told me he was getting death threats from these idiots out there.”

“They just have no idea what our work ethic is,” the drummer adds. “These things don’t happen, man. There’s no other record that’s going to sound like this Tool record.”

The new Tool album, titled Fear Inoculum, finally arrives August 30.
