Slipknot scores third Billboard 200 #1 album with ‘We Are Not Your Kind’

Roadrunner RecordsIt’s been about five years since Slipknot came out with a new album.  With the dry spell finally over, fans catapulted the band’s new album, We Are Not Your Kind, to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The band’s sixth studio album and first since 2014’s .5:The Gray Chapter dropped August 9 and moved an impressive 118,000 units in its first week, 102,000 of which were album sales, according to Nielsen Music numbers reported by Billboard.  Slipknot’s numbers were bolstered by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer that started July 26.

We Are Not Your Kind is the band’s third number-one album, after 2008’s All Hope Is Gone and the previously noted .5: The Gray Chapter.  It’s also Corey Taylor and company’s fifth top-ten album, and the first hard rock album, period, to top the Billboard 200 since Foo Fighters‘ Concrete and Gold, which came out in 2017.  It’s also earned the largest sales week for a hard rock album since Concrete and Gold.

We Are Not Your Kind also produced the band’s seventh top-10 hit with “Unsainted,” which peaked at #4 on the Hot Rock Songs chart.
