After teasing that a new song would arrive Friday, Angel & Airwaves have jumped the gun and dropped the track today.
The tune, titled "Kiss & Tell," is streaming now on YouTube. In a statement, frontman Tom DeLonge describes "Kiss & Tell," specifically its opening notes, as an "ode to The Beach Boys."
"It opens with three-part harmonies to create an introduction with multi-dimensionality," DeLonge explains. "We wanted to create a sound that had electronic elements right alongside classic rock and pop punk melodic structures."
"Lyrically, this song is specifically about balancing on the edge of a razor blade," he adds. "Doing something you're not supposed to be doing, and although you might die while doing it, it's still very much keeping you feeling alive."
"Kiss & Tell" follows the previously released single "Rebel Girl," which dropped in April. A new AVA album, the follow-up to 2014's The Dream Walker, is forthcoming.
Angels & Airwaves just launched their first tour in seven years Wednesday in San Diego. The outing continues Saturday in Del Mar, California.
