ABC/Randy HolmesJack White turned to JAY-Z for some inspiration before The Raconteurs‘ performance in Nashville Thursday.
During a pre-show warmup, White took out a guitar and played along to the rapper’s classic track “99 Problems.” You can watch footage of the impromptu jam session via Reddit.
White has previously performed a mash-up of “99 Problems” and The White Stripes song “Icky Thump.” He’s also recorded with Jay, but that collaboration was abandoned. However, those sessions did lead to the track “Ice Station Zebra” from White’s last solo album, Boarding House Reach.
The backstage video aired as part of The Raconteurs’ live stream of the Nashville show. The band plays Music City again tonight and Saturday, and both of those shows will stream live as well via YouTube and Facebook.
