Fourteen-year-old Slipknot fan meets Jay Weinberg following viral drum cover video

ABC/Randy HolmesIn August, a 14-year-old Slipknot fan named Maren Alford uploaded an impressive video of herself performing a drum cover of the masked metallers’ new single, “Unsainted.” Over 250,000 YouTube views later, Alford has now met the person who played drums on the original track.

In a Facebook post, Alford reveals she and Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg hung out prior to the band’s show in Dallas over the weekend.

“Not only is [Weinberg] a beast behind the kit, but he’s also the most encouraging, kind and generous guy!” Alford wrote. “Really a dream come true to meet and spend time with him and the Slipknot show was INCREDIBLE! THANK YOU for everything Jay — you’re the BEST!”

Alford also plays in the band Not Ur Girlfrenz, which has performed on Warped Tour.

“Unsainted” is the lead single from the new Slipknot album, We Are Not Your Kind. The band just wrapped a U.S. headlining tour in support of the record Sunday in The Woodlands, Texas. They’ll perform at the upcoming Louder than Life and Aftershock festivals before heading to Australia in mid-October to open for Metallica.
