Metallica’s Kirk Hammett “absolutely” wants to direct horror film

ABC/Randy HolmesIn addition to being famous for being the guitarist in Metallica, Kirk Hammett is known as a horror movie aficionado. In an interview with Canada’s Cosmo Music, Hammett reveals he’d “absolutely” want to direct his own horror film.

“I have to prioritize, and at this time, music means so much to me and is an obvious strength for me,” Hammett says. “But I think I could make a really, really incredible horror film.”

As for how that could happen, Hammett needs what every big project needs: time, and “someone else’s money.” He adds that he would want to score the film himself.

“[Scoring it] would be a huge pleasure for me,” Hammett says. “I’ve just got to get it together and find a script and start doing all the groundwork, and that’s a lot of work.”

Over the summer, Hammett opened a classic horror and sci-fi art collection exhibit in Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum. The display will be open through January 5.
