Official audio from final White Stripes show now available online

ABC/Randy HolmesOfficial audio from The White Stripes‘ final show is now available for online download via Nugs.net.

The concert took place July 31, 2007 in Southaven, Mississippi, nearly four years before Jack and Meg White officially called in quits in February 2011. As White Stripes archivist Ben Blackwell explains, Meg told him before the performance that she felt like it would be the duo’s last show.

“Confused, I responded ‘Well, yeah, last show of this leg of the tour,'” Blackwell remembers. “She replied ‘No…I think this is the last White Stripes show ever’ and slowly walked away.”

The White Stripes had more dates scheduled later that year, in support of what would become their final album, 2007’s Icky Thump.  However, those were canceled due to Meg’s battle with acute anxiety.

While they would never play a full show again, the Stripes did perform “We Are Going to Be Friends” in 2009 on the final episode of NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien. That would turn out to be their very last performance.
