Prolific horror film and character actor Sid Haig, known for his work in Rob Zombie‘s movies, has died at age 80.
Haig’s wife revealed the news in an Instagram post Monday, writing, “On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next.”
Haig first started acting in the 1960s, and has appeared in over 50 films. He played the part of Captain Spaulding in Zombie’s Firefly trilogy — House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects and this year’s 3 from Hell — and had parts in the shock-rocker’s films The Lords of Salem and Halloween.
In an Instagram post, Zombie wrote, “Horray for Captain Spaulding. Gone but not forgotten.”
Haig also had roles in films including George Lucas‘ 1971 feature film directorial debut THX 1138 and Quentin Tarantino‘s Jackie Brown.
