Ghost will do “absolutely zero touring in 2020,” according to Tobias Forge

Credit: Mikael ErikssonIf you want to see Ghost live, then you best catch them on their current tour. According to frontman Tobias Forge, the band will be taking a break from the road next year.

“It’s going to be absolutely zero touring in 2020,” Forge tells the Herald-Whig, adding that they plan to play just one show in February as the “wrap-up of this tour cycle.”

The good news is that Ghost’s touring hiatus is the result of the Swedish metallers returning to the studio to begin work on a new album, the follow-up to 2018’s Prequelle. Once that record’s done, the touring machine will start up again.

“The year is going to be spent making a new record, a new record that will come out in 2021, the beginning of 2021,” Forge says. “Then we’re looking at 18 months of touring again.”

And while they won’t be on the road, Forge promises that “there’s going to be a lot of other things happening” in the world of Ghost.

“You’re going to see plenty from Ghost next year,” he says.

Ghost’s current North American tour continues Thursday in Spokane, Washington, and will conclude October 26 in Glens Falls, New York. They’ll then be touring Europe in November and December.
