Get ready for Papa Emeritus IV, says Ghost frontman Tobias Forge

While Ghost may not have plans to release a new album until 2021, that doesn’t mean that frontman Tobias Forge hasn’t been thinking about the project, which will be their fifth release.

“By the fifth album you’re at a point in your career where you have this momentum built up, and you have the expectancy of people depending on you, so you have to put something special in those many spotlights,” Forge tells Kerrang! magazine. “You need to step up and make a record that’s worth it and justifies all of these things.”

In advance of the new project, Forge reveals that, rather than the current Cardinal Copia, it’ll be Papa Emeritus IV who’ll be leading the band during that time.

“I just know that person will have the name Papa Emeritus IV,” he explains. “It will be the fourth Papa Emeritus. But who that is, we don’t know yet.”

The new album, when it arrives, will be the follow-up to 2018’s Grammy-nominated Prequelle. For now, you can enjoy the band’s Exalted box set edition of Prequelle, featuring the album on orange-and-black-smoke vinyl, four live photo prints, a 60-page photo book featuring images from Ghost’s arena shows, die-cut Prequelle artwork, and a 12-page booklet featuring brand new illustrations.
