Volbeat cancels Belfast show before finishing one song due to health and technical issues

Credit: Ross HalfinVolbeat‘s concert in Belfast Thursday ended before the band even finished one song.

According to reports on social media, the Danish rockers opened the show with “Pelvis on Fire,” a track from their new album Rewind, Replay, Rebound, but cut the performance short in the middle of the song. After 10 minutes and another go at the song, Volbeat then left the stage and ended the show.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Volbeat offered their “most heartfelt apologies” for canceling the performance, which they blame on a variety of health and technical issues.

“As many of you know, [frontman] Michael [Poulsen] has been having some throat issues and we ran into multiple technical issues on stage that prevented the band from being able to hear each other play,” the statement reads.

It continues, “While he has mostly recovered his voice at this point, it was decided that had he continued to play the show this way he would have risked blowing out his voice again and having to cancel even more shows.”

Volbeat adds that the group is “gutted” to cancel the show, and will be rescheduling a show in Belfast “as soon as we possibly can.”
