After President Donald Trump tweeted a video featuring the much-memed 2005 Nickelback hit, which was then removed due to a copyright claim, digital downloads of “Photograph” went up 569 percent, according to Billboard.
Billboard also reports that “Photograph” saw a 38 percent increase in on-demand audio and video streams.
Trump first tweeted the video on October 2, and by the next day, the clip had been removed “in response to a report by the copyright owner.”
The video was a version of the “Photograph” meme, which takes the clip from the song’s video featuring frontman Chad Kroeger holding the titular photograph, and replaces the original image with whatever the meme is making fun of. In the case of Trump’s meme, the video featured a photo of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter alongside a Ukrainian gas company executive.
It’s not clear who ordered the Nickelback meme tweet taken down.
