No fear: Tool’s “Fear Inoculum” tops radio airplay chart

RCA RecordsRadio stations apparently aren’t afraid to play Tool‘s new single, “Fear Inoculum.”

The song — the opening cut and title track from the band’s long-awaited new album — is number-one on Mediabase’s Active Rock chart. The ranking measures airplay on active rock stations across the country.

Tool previously earned number-one active rock singles with “Schism,” “The Pot” and “Vicarious.”

On the album, “Fear Inoculum” lasts over 10 minutes, though in some cases, the track has been shortened in for radio. The full version is the longest song to ever chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fear Inoculum, the first Tool album in 13 years, arrived at last in August.

Following a set at the Aftershock festival over the weekend, Tool launches a North American headlining tour in support of Fear Inoculum Tuesday night in Denver.
