ESPN reports that Maddon will receive between $12 million and $15 million over the course of the contract. He will be formally introduced at a press conference next week.

Maddon spent the last five seasons as the manager of the Chicago Cubs, bringing that team to its first World Series title in 108 years. Prior to that, he managed the Tampa Bay Rays for nine years.

The 65-year-old Maddon spent the first three decades of his career in the Angels organization.

In a statement, Maddon said he “could not be more excited to come back home and manage this great organization.”

The Angels went 72-90 under manager Brad Ausmus this past season. They have made the postseason just once in the past decade.
