Greta Van Fleet has “potential…to be as amazing as Led Zeppelin,” says The Darkness frontman

Speaking to Classic Rock Magazine, The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins says that “There’s lots of potential for [Greta Van Fleet] to be as amazing as Led Zeppelin,” to whom the rising rockers are often compared. However, he also adds that the group is “going to need some better songs” to do that.

Hawkins further says that he feels the fervor around Greta Van Fleet is more of an indictment of the current rock scene.

“When something like this comes along and everyone gets excited, it shows you how little we have to offer as a genre,” Hawkins explains. “That’s not to slag [Greta Van Fleet] off, because I think they have the potential to be amazing.”

“They could be the next phase of what Led Zeppelin should have been doing,” he continues. “There’s nothing wrong with adopting classic rock choreography and clothes, but you have to kick on from there.”
