Saint Asonia looks back on “This August Day” with new song

Courtesy of SpinefarmSaint Asonia has premiered a new song called “This August Day,” a track from the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Flawed Design.

As frontman Adam Gontier explains, the track was inspired by a time two years ago when he was in a “very, very dark place.”

“After a long and very difficult relapse with alcohol and substance abuse, and with the help of some very close family and loving friends, I found myself at a treatment center in Nashville,” Gontier recalls. “Not only that, but I found myself in an emergency room, hanging onto life by a thread.”

At that same time, Gontier’s son was being born “on the other side of the continent.”

“Not being physically present the day my son came into this world is something I will look back on and regret for the rest of my life,” Gontier says.

“‘This August Day’ is about all of that,” he continues. “It’s about that one day in August that completely changed me — forever.”

Flawed Design will be released October 25. It also includes the lead single “The Hunted,” featuring Godsmack‘s Sully Erna.

In addition to Gontier, who, of course, is formerly of Three Days Grace, Saint Asonia also features Staind guitarist Mike Mushok. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2015.
