Alice in Chains’ William DuVall promises to “put together a show” on debut solo tour

Dvl RecordingsAlice in Chains vocalist/guitarist William DuVall launches a tour in support of his debut solo album, One Alone, Monday night in Atlanta. In the same way that he recorded One Alone, DuVall will be completely alone on stage during the tour, with only his voice and an acoustic guitar accompanying him.

Speaking to ABC Audio, DuVall says that performing his One Alone songs live, especially in such a vulnerable manner, will be a “challenge,” but a “welcome challenge.”

“It’s cool,” DuVall says. “I am gradually figuring out how to consistently inhabit these songs and play them this way.”

The set lists on the tour, DuVall says, will “obviously be centered” around One Alone, but some other songs from throughout his career may sneak in, as well.

“Maybe there’s a song or two from other aspects of my work that might work here, that might make sense here,” DuVall teases. “Maybe there are songs by other artists that I might be able to incorporate occasionally, switch out night-to-night, that sort of thing.”

“[I’m] gonna put together a show,” he promises.

One of those songs he might pull out is the 1995 hit single “I Know” by R&B and pop singer Dionne Farris, which DuVall co-wrote.

“Maybe a snippet of it, at least, as an intro to another thing,” DuVall says.

One Alone is out now.
