Fall Out Boy explains new song “Bob Dylan” from upcoming ‘Believers Never Die’ compilation

ABC/Randy HolmesFall Out Boy‘s upcoming greatest hits compilation, Believers Never Die — Volume Two, chronicles the band’s second era after coming back from hiatus, but it includes one song you may not recognize.

As guitarist Joe Trohman tells Kerrang!, the song, which is titled “Bob Dylan,” dates back to the sessions for Fall Out Boy’s 2015 album, American Beauty/American Psycho. And as it turns out, Trohman had strong feelings about the tune.

“I was like, ‘You guys are f***ing idiots for not using this song,” Trohman recalls.

Now that “Bob Dylan” is finally getting released, Trohman says he’s “happy.”

“Less that I got my way, because I don’t really push hard, but because it’s coming out,” he explains.  “I always hated the culture in this band that we would have cool B-sides and leftover songs that we would do nothing with.  So I’m glad I spoke up. Maybe I should speak up more often.”

Believers Never Die — Volume Two also includes the new single “Dear Future Self (Hands Up),” featuring Wyclef Jean. It’ll be released this Friday.
