Credit: Martin JausllerSlayer played their final show ever, Saturday night in Los Angeles. The 20-song set closed with “Angel of Death,” and once that was over, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya took a minute to thank the fans.
“Thank you. Thank you very much,” he said. “I want to thank you for sharing your time with us. Time is precious. So I thank you for sharing that time with us.”
“I’m gonna miss you guys,” Araya added, his voice catching. “But the most important thing is I want to thank you for being a part of my life…Good night. You guys be safe.”

Slayer first announced in January 2018 that they’d be hanging it up, and the first leg of their farewell tour launched May of that year. In total, the goodbye run included more than 140 shows in 30 countries and 40 U.S. states.
Aside from being Slayer’s last ever show, Saturday’s L.A. concert featured another special surprise. Aquaman star Jason Momoa, a well-known metalhead, joined openers Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals on stage to play the Pantera song “This Love.” Momoa posted video of his performance on his Instagram.
