Chester Bennington’s pre-Linkin Park band Grey Daze releasing re-recorded album

ABC/Jeff NeiraChester Bennington‘s pre-Linkin Park band Grey Daze is releasing an album of re-recorded material.

Talinda Bennington, Chester’s widow, confirmed the news in a statement posted to Twitter. The project dated back to February 2017, when Chester reunited with his Grey Daze band mates to revisit the group’s early material. Additionally, a 20th anniversary reunion show was in the works.

Of course, those plans were put on hold when Chester died in July 2017.

“When Chester passed away, Grey Daze’s reunion seemed like an afterthought to everyone involved,” Talinda writes. “They were suffering, I was suffering, and there were way too many emotions to work through before we could even think about what would happen to that project.”

Talinda explains that, “once the clouds lifted a bit,” the Grey Daze members resumed the project in an effort to celebrate Chester’s early music.

“The Grey Daze project is one of the ways we can continue to tell Chester’s story and connect with his fans,” Talinda says.

She continues, “For us, releasing a new Grey Daze album will shine a light on where my husband started an hopefully give his fans a better understanding of his art and a more full picture of his journey through this incredible music.”

Earlier this year, Grey Daze revealed that they were recording with Chester’s son, Jaime.

No release date for the album has been announced.
