Trent Reznor blasts ‘Bird Box’ scoring experience as a “waste of time”

The Null CorporationTrent Reznor apparently did not have a fun time working on the score for the Netflix film Bird Box.

Speaking to Revolver, the Nine Inch Nails frontman says he and band mate/scoring partner Atticus Ross felt the whole experience was a “waste of time.”

“When we got immersed in it, it felt like some people were phoning it in,” Reznor says. “And you’re stuck with a film editor who had real bad taste. That’s kind of our barricade to getting stuff in the film.”

What made matters worse, Reznor says, was that the music was mixed while he and Ross were away on tour.

“They mixed the music so low, you couldn’t hear it anyway,” he says. “So it was like, that was a…f***ing waste of time.”

“Then we thought, no one’s going to see this f***ing movie,” Reznor adds. “And, of course, it’s the hugest movie ever in Netflix.”

Last month, Reznor and Ross released Bird Box/Null 09 Extended, a four-LP package featuring over two hours music recorded during the Bird Box sessions.
