My Chemical Romance’s reunion show breaks box office record for L.A. venue

Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesMy Chemical Romance‘s reunion concert at The Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall late last year was the highest-grossing event in the history of the historic venue.

According to Variety, the instantly sold-out show grossed a total of $1,451,745, a record in The Shrine’s near 100-year history.

Among the artists who’ve previously played The Shrine include Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix and Jack White. The venue, which opened in 1926, has also hosted a number of award shows, including the Grammys, Emmys and Oscars.

MCR, who broke up in 2013, announced their reunion this past Halloween, and made their official live return at The Shrine on December 20. They have a number of international shows lined up for this year, including dates in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
