Credit: P.R. BrownEvanescence has premiered a video for their cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “The Chain,” which was recorded for the Gears 5 video game.
In the clip, streaming now via YouTube, Amy Lee and company deliver an impassioned performance while surrounded by red smoke. In between, we get some dramatic Gears 5 footage.
At the end of the video, we see drummer Will Hunt‘s drum kit on fire — perhaps a reference to the unfortunate events of Slipknot‘s 2019 Knotfest Mexico. Both Evanescence and Slipknot’s sets at the festival were canceled due a damaged barricade, which led to some fans rioting and destroying property, including setting fire to Hunt’s drum set.
Meanwhile, Evanescence has been working on a new album, the follow-up to 2011’s self-titled release. Since then, they’ve released the 2017 compilation Synthesis, which featured songs from throughout the band’s catalog re-recorded with electronic and orchestral elements.
