DMB wins Rock Hall fan vote; Pat Benatar, Doobies, Soundgarden & Priest make up top five

Courtesy of Rock & Roll Hall of FameIf the fans have their way, Dave Matthews Band will be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The group received the most votes in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s fan poll for the potential 2020 inductees.

Pat Benatar finished in second place, followed by The Doobie Brothers in third. Soundgarden and Judas Priest round out the top five.

DMB, Soundgarden, Benatar and the Doobies are all first-time nominees.

Thanks to the poll, the top five acts will each get an extra vote toward induction, although about one thousand ballots are cast each year when deciding which artists are welcomed into the Rock Hall. That being said, the acts who received the most votes in the fan poll during the last seven years all ended up getting inducted, which bodes very well for Matthews and his group.

The other 2020 Rock Hall nominees include Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Whitney Houston, Thin Lizzy, Motörhead, Todd Rundgren, T. Rex, The Notorious B.I.G, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Kraftwerk and MC5.

The official inductees will be announced this Wednesday, January 15. The induction ceremony will be held May 2 in Cleveland, Ohio.
