Tool, Vampire Weekend or Cage the Elephant? Here’s who’s competing for Grammys this weekend

Francis Specker/CBSIt’s that time of year again: the 2020 Grammys go down this Sunday. Here’s an overview of who’s competing in the rock categories.

Starting in the Best Rock Album category, the nominees are Bring Me the Horizon‘s Amo, Cage the Elephant‘s Social Cues, The CranberriesIn the End, I Prevail‘s Trauma, and Rival SonsFeral Roots.

The Best Rock Song nominees are Tool‘s “Fear Inoculum,” The 1975‘s Give Yourself a Try, Vampire Weekend‘s “Harmony Hall,” Brittany Howard‘s “History Repeats,” and Gary Clark Jr.‘s “This Land.”

“History Repeats” and “This Land” are also nominated for Best Rock Performance, as are Bones UK‘s “Pretty Waste,” Karen O and Danger Mouse‘s “Woman,” and Rival Sons’ “Too Bad.”

In the Best Alternative Music Album category, the nominees are Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride, Bon Iver‘s i,i, Thom Yorke‘s Anima, Big Thief‘s U.F.O.F., and James Blake‘s Assume Form. Father of the Bride and i,i are also nominated for Album of the Year, as are Billie Eilish‘s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? and Lana Del Rey‘s Norman F***ing Rockwell.

The Best Metal Performance nominees include Tool’s “7empest,” Killswitch Engage‘s “Unleashed,” I Prevail’s “Bow Down,” Candlemass‘ “Astorolus — The Great Octopus” feat. Tony Iommi, and Death Angel‘s “Humanicide.”

Meanwhile, the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical nominees include Jack Antonoff, The Black Key‘s Dan Auerbach, and Eilish’s brother/collaborator, Finneas.

You’ll also find Yorke’s Suspiria song “Suspirium” nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media, and the Beastie BoysBeastie Boys Book in the Best Spoken Word Album category.

The 2020 Grammys will air live from Los Angeles Sunday, January 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
