Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has debuted a video for his cover of Pearl Jam’s “Black,” included on his new solo EP, Ether.

The acoustic take on the PJ classic features vocals by Mark Morales, who tours as part of Morton’s live band. In a statement, Morton says, “The early ‘90s were such an important and vibrant time for rock music in general, and I feel like ‘Black’ is one of the great songs from that era.”

He adds, “Our approach in covering it was to present a super stripped-down version, sticking the essence of the song. It’s got a very lonely feel to it and Mark Morales delivered an absolutely incredible vocal performance.”

Morton’s EP is mostly acoustic and features three originals and two covers: In addition to “Black,” Morton delivers his version of The Black Crowes‘ “She Talks to Angels,” featuring vocals by Lzzy Hale.  Other vocalists on the album include Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage and Light the Torch, plus John Carbone of Moon Tooth.
