Roger Waters says David Gilmour's banned him from Pink Floyd's website

Roger Waters has posted a video announcement expressing his frustration that he isn’t allowed to promote any of his solo projects on the Pink Floyd website and social media pages — and he says it’s David Gilmour‘s fault.

The five-minute clip, posted on Waters’ YouTube channel and social media sites, Roger starts by discussing how 1.5 million people have viewed a video he posted recently of him performing Pink Floyd’s “Mother” virtually with members of his solo touring band, then lamenting that he isn’t able to share it via his old band’s online outlets.

“Nothing from me is on the website. I am banned by David Gilmour from the website,” Waters declares, adding, “I think he thinks because I left the band in 1985 that he owns Pink Floyd, that he is Pink Floyd [and] that I’m irrelevant and I should keep my mouth shut.”

Roger goes on to talk about a meeting he convened last year with the surviving Pink Floyd members — Gilmour and Nick Mason — which he previously mentioned in a recent Rolling Stone interview.

“It bore not fruit, I’m sorry to say,” he notes. “One of the things I asked for, I suggested that because whoever the 30 million of you are that subscribe to the webpage, you do so because of the body of work the five of us [him, Gilmour, Mason, Syd Barrett and Rick Wright] created…In consequence, it seems to me that it would be fair and correct if we should have equal access to you all and share our projects.”

Waters also says he’s heard that fans have complained that they aren’t able to find out about such specific projects of his at Pink Floyd’s website, like his This Is Not a Drill Tour and his Us + Them concert film.
