Axl Rose, Serj Tankian blast Donald Trump over response to George Floyd protests

Mark Horton/Getty ImagesArtists in the rock world are continuing to use their voice in response to the death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests, with Axl Rose and Serj Tankian now blasting President Donald Trump.

The Guns N’ Roses frontman took issue with Trump’s tweet on Sunday, in which he blamed the “lamestream media” for “doing everything within their power to foment hatred and anarchy.”

“Lamestream media ISN’T doing everything within their power 2 foment hatred n’ anarchy, that’s U!” Rose wrote in his own tweet. “As long as we get what Ur doing, that Ur FAKE NEWS n’ a truly bad, repulsive excuse 4 a person w/a sick agenda, we can work past U w/whatever it takes 2 a better, stronger future!”

Last month, Rose exchanged social media barbs with U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchincalling him an “a**hole.”

Tankian, meanwhile, shared an article by The Guardian with the headline, “Trump fled to bunker as protests over George Floyd raged outside White House.” Sources confirmed to ABC News that the president was “briefly moved” to an underground bunker while the protests in Washington, D.C. continued.

“Run Donny run into your bunker,” Tankian wrote. “You may be the first US President to do so out of fear of your own citizens. A real leader would address the nation properly and a real man would go face the protestors on the streets in person.”
