Corey Taylor teases upcoming solo album as “futuristic throwback” featuring “huge solos”

Courtesy Roadrunner RecordsCorey Taylor is offering more hints about his much-anticipated debut solo album.

In an interview with Knotfest.com, the Slipknot frontman describes the upcoming record as a “futuristic throwback.”

“Everything on this album is a hybrid of all these different genres I’m really into,” Taylor says.

“It’s everything I want it to be,” he continues. “There’s some Slade in there, there’s some Johnny Cash, there’s some Alice in Chains…big choruses, fun rock. Huge solos, HUGE solos.”

Taylor adds that the album includes songs he’d originally written back in high school, as well as a newer, piano-based track that he wrote for his wife.

“It’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever written,” he says.
