Blink-182 working on “super classic” new material, according to producer

Aaron J. Thornton/WireImageBlink-182 has been working on new material while in quarantine, and according to producer John Feldmann, longtime fans will be pleased with the direction it’s taking.

“The band has definitely been getting in touch with their roots,” Feldmann tells Rock Sound. “The songs we have been working on have been super classic Blink and I can’t be more excited.”

Feldmann worked with Blink on their last two albums: last fall’s Nine, and 2016’s comeback effort California, which was the first to feature Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba in place of Tom DeLonge.

“With Nine the band wanted to experiment with a bunch of different sounds and programming and push the envelope forwards,” Feldmann explains. “They didn’t just want to remake California, which I totally understand as artists, not wanting to just redo an album that was so successful for them.

Nine was a really experimental record and I’m really proud to have been a part of that album,” the producer adds. “I think with whatever is going to come next is definitely more roots for them.”

Back in May, drummer Travis Barker revealed that Blink had a new song called “Quarantine” in the works.
