Kasabian lead singer Tom Meighan leaving band due to “personal issues”

Roberto Ricciuti/RedfernsKasabian lead singer Tom Meighan is leaving the band.

In a statement, the U.K. rockers say that Meighan, who’d been in Kasabian since the group was founded in 1997, is stepping away due to unspecified “personal issues.”

“Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent,” the statement reads. “Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behavior for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track.”

“We will not be commenting further,” the band adds.

Beloved in their native England, Kasabian is perhaps best known in the U.S. for their 2004 single “Club Foot.”

Kasabian’s most recent album is 2017’s For Crying Out Loud.
