Gordon Stabbins/Getty ImagesThe Killers will be “conducting a thorough investigation” following sexual misconduct allegations from a sound engineer against members of the band’s touring crew.
The allegations were made by a person on Twitter named Chez Cherrie, who originally wrote an article in 2015 detailing her experience on tour with an unnamed band. The piece was later published in 2018, and recirculated this week after Cherrie retweeted it and named The Killers as the band.
In the piece, Cherrie details numerous instances in which she says she was treated differently for being “the only female on tour,” which took place in 2009.
She also describes one particular alleged incident, in which a crew member radioed everyone to say there was a “girl set up” in a dressing room, and instructed that they should put put their name on a list if they wanted a “turn.”
At the end of the night, Cherrie writes, a security guard told the crew member that the girl was “passed out and naked,” which Cherrie says merely prompted laughter from him and other crew workers.
In a statement to BBC News, a legal representative for The Killers says, “Any allegations of inappropriate behavior by anyone on The Killers touring team are taken extremely seriously by the band and their management.”
“This person’s story is appalling and, while The Killers do not have the same touring crew in 2020 that they had earlier in their career, they will be conducting a thorough investigation into past and present tour staff,” the statement continues.
The legal rep adds that The Killers are “astonished and shocked by these claims.”
“The behavior attributed to them and their crew is unrecognizable and in direct opposition to the principles with which they run their workplace,” the statement reads.
